Role Summary:

The Weld Engineering Specialist will establish and refine welding manufacturing procedures. This position will prepare and maintain shop documentation conforming to quality system requirements and assess and help to resolve non- conforming conductions that affect the product. The Weld Engineering Specialist will support shop activities and ensure safe work through the maintenance, upgrading of equipment and facilities and support tooling design and weld processes, as required. The focus of this position is on welding processes, weld documentation, welder training and welding equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare welding Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), and other supporting documentation.
  • Analyze Engineering designs for weld requirements.
  • Support Welder Training to meet AWS, CWB and Customer specific Welding

    Codes/Specifications.

  • Support Project launch process with regards to all welding requirements

    (processes, tooling, documentation).

  • Support ITP welding requirements and inspections.
  • Execute Weld Testing requirements on new products, joint configurations

    and materials.

  • Attend Production/Project/First Part meetings and provide status updates

    on all weld related activities.

  • Conduct failure and cause analyses on welding non-conformances.
  • Support Internal and External NCR and Corrective Action processes.
  • Perform weld inspections to Customers specifications.
  • Interface with Engineering & Production Teams to rectify process issues

    related to welded assemblies.

  • Perform Internal Weld Audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Welding Governing Bodies such as CWB and AWS
  • Collect, analyze and implement corrective actions to improve overall weld

    quality and efficiency.

  • Review and Approve subcontractor NDE reports.
  • Interact & communicate with customers as needed.
  • Interact with external consultants.

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • Two (2) plus years experience as a CWB Level 2 weld inspector or AWS equivalent(s).
  • CSA W178.2 Level 2 Certification.
  • Obtain ongoing Customer certifications for Inspections & Training.
  • Red Seal Welding Certification.
  • Experience in Welding Procedure Software.
  • Must pass a security assessment due to the sensitive nature of parts

    we manufacture.

We are very proud to have relocated into our brand new 46,000 square foot facility located at 581 Sherwood Road in the RM of Sherwood just off Pasqua Street.

Educational Requirements:

  • College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Specifically welding and fabrication, mechanical, materials, robotics & automation and other such technical programs with an emphasis on welding and fabrication.
